You Were Made to Blaze

Become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus.
2 Corinthians 3:18, TPT
God decided to create men and women because He wanted to. He “created it all, because [He] wanted it” (Revelation 4:11).
God created you because He wanted you.
Just as He created Adam in His image, God continues to create each living and breathing human being in His likeness. He is a skilled architect. No matter how it feels, humanity has not leapt off of God’s drafting table. He is active in the supernatural work of creating something from nothing, and human blueprints are his specialty.
Psalm 139 isn’t just for needlepoint baby gifts, it is a sonnet of our past… “You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be, before I became me!” (Psalm 139:15-16 TPT).
From conception He has us all planned out. Magnificently designed, purposeful. He knew who He wanted you to be, before you even drew your first lungful of air. You were knit and designed and shaped to carry the very image of God to the world.
I bear the image of God. This is hard for me to wrap my mind around. For if I am God’s image bearer, then so are you, so are my kids, so is my neighbor, so are the people blocking the bread aisle at the grocery store. So are the people who stand behind podiums and make speeches… and so are the people in Iran and China and in unknown tribes in the Amazon. This idea is how we love others afresh. By recognizing that God knit together each person just as skillfully as he knit us. He wants us all. There are no accidental people. Not a single person conceived has ever not been designed to bear the image of God.
As image bearers, we awake to the truth of God’s word, covered by the blood of Jesus, reconciled to God and adopted into His family for good. Our hope should be to reflect the image of God to the world in such a way that it causes others to wake up to God’s grace and truth.
“We were put on earth to make visible the invisible God. To show the world what God is like. We are the Creator’s representatives to his creation.” - John Mark Comer
We are to “become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus.” (2 Corinthians 3:18 TPT). The call is great. There are ships out at sea. Wandering. Lost. Image bearers who need to find their way home. Home with God which is where we were all meant to be from the beginning. He created us because he wanted us, yes - He wanted us in His family. You are a lighthouse. Built on a firm foundation. Reflecting light, blazing His image bright and warm, calling out hope to all weary travelers (Matthew 5). You are the light of the world. You were made in God’s image to show Him to the world.
So blaze.
